    very rarely, by what is known as THe King Fish. As a boy I heard my father telling of an experience of his when poaching. One night others and he "burned" a ford. Burning means fishing with a torch. He saw one huge fish. He was like a young whale and must have been about eighty pounds weight. Another man held the light with all his strength and both hands gripping the spear my father = a man of over six feet in height and captain of the parish football team - struck with all his might. He hit the fish but in his own words 'twas like hitting a churn'. The spear hopped off the fish and the handle drove ????? through my fathers' hands and he was knocked flat in the water. The fish leaped out of the water scattering spray out
