- (continued from previous page)The Gallows hill is situated at the end of the town of Carrickmacross. On this hill stands a tower made of stone and thickly covered in ivy. It is said that people were hanged there long ago. Others say there was meal ground there in olden days.
- There is a large rock, shaped like a chair, in Shirley's demesne called Fionn MacCool's chair.
It is said that was Fionn's resting place. It is said that anyone that sits on it can make a wish. Many people go to see this chair.- Informant
