  1. Saturday an unlucky day to change from one house to another, or to go to a situation as to begin new work. "Saturday's flit is a short sit". Ploughing is not commenced on Saturday. Friday is the lucky day to begin this work. Marriages are unluck on Saturday.
    Root crops should be put in "in the dark of the moon". Grain crops in "the light of the moon". Potaties should all be planted before Castles Lane fair 22nd May any planted after this day were considered late.
    Anything planted in the ground on Good Friday is said to be more fruitful than at any other time.
