    the cows have been "blinked", certain people coming in at churning time are considered unlucky. The butter is lifted out on a strainer and put into a wooden dish and washed with cold, clean, fresh water to take the milk out of it then salt is mixed through it and made into measkins. The buttermild is used for feeding calves and also is drunk by the people and used in breadmaking.
