"Wheaten - meal bread" is made in the same way as "Oaten - meal Bread", only Wheaten - meal is used instead of Oaten - meal. Buttermilk was used mostly in the making of bread.
Bread used to be made every day of the week. In this district there was no special bake - day. Marks were put on the tops of cakes in olden times (such as crosses, harps, and others). An "oven" was the name given to the vessel in which bread was baked.
