- The land-lord of this district was a man named Coote who lived in Monaghan. He was very hard and had no mercy for tenants who couldn't pay their rent.Ned McKenna, Cordoo, Newbliss who died last week and was around 90 years of age, paid tithes to Coote. He paid about £1 per annum.Peter McGorman's grandfather who lived in Drumary, Newbliss, also paid tithes to Coote.There was a family named McKenna who lived in this district and they were evicted by Coote for non-payment of rent.
