  1. Prayer
There are a lot of payers that never saw print. These prayers were taught by the old women of long ago. One of them is
    God the Father bless thee
    Jesus Christ defend thee
And keep thee this night and this day
    Now and forever Amen.
The old people had an old habit of when they were kindling the fire. First they put the poker in straight into the fire. Then they put it in sideways. This resembled the cross. Then they said
    O' Good Jesus
    Guard me and Guide me
Help me in my distress now
and if I may die this day at that hour.
