  1. Through the mist a man was driving in his car when suddenly his car broke down and refused to move. On each side of him the country stretched lonely. But every now and then a car crept along the road and he had hopes of stopping one for assistance. He waved his arm and shouted but the cars appearing like ghostly shapes vanished and their headlights dimmed by the fog.
