    Weather Lore
    A red sunset is a sign of good weather coming.
    A North wind brings the snow.
    If animals become dull and heavy, rain is appraoching
    When dust whirls along the roadsides, bad weather is at hand.
    Cattle grazing on a hilltop betoken good weather, Cattle at the bottom of a hill show that rain and dull bad weather is approaching.
    Smoke which ascends straight into the Sky is a sign of good weather, but if it scatters out and goes crooked we may be sure that rain is near

    The whistle of a peweet (snipe) betokens a big storm.
    A Foxes bark (brings in) heralds a heavy snowfall.

    A robin high in the bush is the sign of good weather
    A robin at the bottom of a bush is a sure sign of bad weather.

    If the moon rises between 12 and half past two o-clock good weather is near. [-]
