- Farmers believe it is lucky to sow oats on the 13th March, even if the weather is not suitable. It a person abstained from meat on Saint Stephen's Day he would not be sick during the year. It is counted unlucky to give away anything on New Year's Day.
- Another old custom was to sow potatoes on Good-Friday. If the farmer had not the ground prepared he tilled some small piece of earth and sowed a few potatoes
