seekers and the game begins again. Blind man's Bluff is also played. A handkerchief or cloth is tied over a child's eyes so that she cannot see. Then the blind-folded person goes around groping and trying to catch some one else. The person that is caught is then blindfolded and so on.
When playing "cat and mouse" a large circle is made by the children and two children are selected one to represent a mouse, the other a cat. Then the cat chases the mouse in and out under the children's arms until the "mouse" is caught. Four corners as it is called is a very exciting game. Four children take their places in four corners and a fifth stands in the middle. This person is called the "fool". The child in each corner runs from one corner to another while the fool endeavours to reach it first. Whoever has no corner is the fool.
In Winter, many games are played indoors such as Snakes and Ladders, Flying Squad, Ludo, Aeroplance race, and draughts. Boys usually play hurling and football. In Autumn girls go picking black-berries while boys go looking for nuts and crabs.
