  2. There are three forges in my parish. Two of these are occupied by Careys, and the other by a Walshe man. Their people have been carrying on this work for generations.
    The forges are all situated in positions for trade, at cross-roads and in the parish town. I happen to live near one of these at Beggar, owned by Edward Carey. The roof is high and slated. There is one fireplace within, which is built high on a round, stone foundation.
    The bellows are large fans used for keeping the fire aglow. They are worked by means of a long stick handle. These bellows open into a large hole at the back of the fire, and when
