School was in the townland of Dromore. A man called John McKenna was teacher. This worthy pedagogue selected a green spot on the sunny side of a quick set hedge, which he conceived adapted for his purpose and there, under the searching rays of a summer sun and in defiance of spies and statutes carried on the work of instruction.
Mr McKenna was a hard and determined teacher. He did not understand the English language and writing and reading were neglected.
