    a few at the door of the dwelling house, and office houses. This old custom is still observed around here. These were supposed to prevent people who had charms, from taking the butter from the milk of the neighbours cows.
    Women were generally the miscreants, and it was supposed they could transform their bodies into the shape of an animal - a hare in general - and then visit the byres of the people.
