  1. (continued from previous page)
That night he lands his gallant men.
On the hills of green Tyrone.
Where he meets the army of the North.
    At Benburb, "under Owen"
And well O Niell / O Niel was pleased that day
    When he saw the mountaineers.
Who kept the Saxon foe at Bay
Out of ancient Truagh for years.
And well they fought that very day,
    In Carrickfergus town,
And few survived to see them home,
    When Englands flag went down.
The autumn leaves were in the woods,
    The berries ripe and red,
When McKenna and his faithful bride,
    In Glasslough church got wed.
And never in her father's halls,
    A fairer bridge was seen,
    Than McMahon's only daughter
    The dark eyed young Maureen.
