“Long ago it was a costom in a certain district when a person died.”
Long ago it was a custom in a certain district when a person died, he was laid out on a table in the kitchen. The day of the funeral when the corpse was put into the coffin, some old woman ran and turned the table, as they had the superstition that the disease would come to some neighbour.
One day a priest came in, as the table was turning in a certain house. He caught one of them by the sleeve, and said "Dont you know you are doing the devil's work and he whipped her with his whip and never since was a table turned in that district.- Collector
