- When Fr Beasley was Parish Priest in Ardea he had a setter, that is a dog that men have with them hunting. His name was Rover. When Rover got old he was of no use to Fr Beasley so he told the clerk to drown him. When the clerk was going with Rover to drown him he met Murty Larry and he told him where he was going and he asked Murty to make a rhyme for the dog so Murty said - "Rover, Sweet Rover you frolicsome cur
When you were young a bird could stir
But now that you'r old and unable to bark
You are condemned by the clergy and
drowned by the clerk.- Collector
