    lived in the village long, long years ago. It was built in one night. The widow drew the stones a distance of ten miles over the mountains in her apron while her son built. When she was bringing the last apron of stones her apron strings broke and the cairn of stones are to be seen to the present day where they fell to the ground. This is supposed to be the reason why Staigue Fort was never finished.
