- It is said that there was a very strong man named Paddy Baun living in the parish of Listry. One day he went to the west of Killorglin for a rail of turf. As he was going home he had to cross the River Laune at Gortnascarry, as he was crossing the ford one of the wheels got broken down he jumped into the river and caught the axel of the car and lifted up one side and in that way carried it a distance of three or four miles without a wheel.
