- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)former years was called Cill Droicid but the English not being able to pronounce the Irish called it Celbridge.There is only one old person about seventy five years of age living in the main street. This woman cannot talk Irish, but she can tell stories. Mrs Farrell Main Street Celbridge Co Kildare is her name and address.
Houses were much more numerous in former days because the land was cultivated. There were also a good number of people working in the mill, but when the mill closed down most of them emigrated to Northern England and to America.
