    Local Marriage Customs
The marriages in my locality usually take place in the summer months, but many marriages take place on Shrove Tuesday in this Parish. Many people prefer to get married in the month of January because it is supposed to be a lucky month for that purpose. The month of May is supposed to be an unlucky month to get married in.
Wednesday is supposed to be a good day for a marriage and people say that if two people get married on a Tuesday they will be wealthy for the rest of their lives. Saturday is looked upon as very unlucky day for a wedding.
Matches are generally made for a few months
