sometimes only one shilling. "The luck" is given by the person who sells the animal, to the person who buys it.
When the bargain is made the parties show their agreement by striking each other's hands. When an animal is sold, it is marked by a red stroke on the forehead or back, and sometimes by clipping hair from their ears. When an animal is sold, the halter is given with it, but it is rarely they have halters, except the animal is cross. Very seldom a special fair is held for horses or bonhams, because horses are generally brought to a cattle fair, and bonhams are brought to a pig fair, where big and small pigs are bought and sold. Most people believe that if you bring big pigs to a fair, you should sell them if you could at all, because if you bring them home, it is always noticed, that they will get sick and die, or it will be more difficult to sell them at the next fair.
