    Churning
    We have a churn at home. Its height is two feet six inches. It is about two feet at the top and bottom. It is about five years old. The various parts are - the hoops, the pecks, the lid and the dash. Churning is done twice a week in summer time and once in winter time. If people come in when the churning is in progress they help at the work. The churning usually takes about an hour. It is done by hand.The churn dash is moved upwards and downwards. The people know when the butter is made because the butter appears on the dash. Water is poured in during the process. This is done so that the churning will be
