    Drumshanbo. The water is lifted in three bottles. Certain prayers are said at the lifting of each bottle in honor of Saint Brigid who left the cure in the lake. The bottles of water are corked with the grass that grows at the edge of the lake. The person who lifts the water is not to look back at the lake, neither is he to go into a house till he reaches the patient who should if it be possible outside to have the water put on. This cure like all others is done on Mondays and Thursdays. This disease erysipelas is known locally as the Rose and is of two kinds, the Red and the white. It is believed here to be caused by a chill, especially by a harvest shower and should be cured in the moon it is taken in. The cure referred to above is not one of faith, for I have known persons to get relief
