- Seventy years ago many of the houses in this locality were built of mudwall and it is said that a well built mudwall house was staunch, dry and warm. It was put up somewhat in a similar manner to the concrete of the present day but it took much longer to build on account of the long time it used to take the mud to dry.
The mud was wet and tramped by men in bare feet with the trousers rolled above the knee. They used lead donkeys around with them in the mud too till it was quite tough then there was straw, rushes or fibre mixed with it(continues on next page)
