In the year of Our Lord 1831,
Being on Good Friday morning
At the rising of the sun.
Our neighbours to the market
Went flocking to the shore
But fourteen of that number
Returned here no more.
II
Between Ross Bug and Curry Point
'Tis here we raised our sail.
The wind it blew all from the north
And we had a pleasant gale
We sailed away most cheerfully
Which caused us for to weep
But that evening near Strabragan
We perished on the deep.
III
At four o'clock that evening
We all prepared to go.
Johny at the helm, and the other three to row.
