There were no pens to write with in it except quills. There were no seats, the children had to sit on the ground, except one chair for the master. They had no chalk either only a stone of lime, and it was very badly the master could write on the black board with that. - There was a great weight and jumper living in a townland called Carragarriffe, about ten miles from Ballaghadereen.
