    to light his pipe should leave back the coal again when the pipe was lit. If a churning is in progress when when a stranger enters a house he must take a "dreas" i. e. a turn or little help at the work before he leaves or the butter will not come on the milk.
    On Bonefire night a person from each house brought a coal from the fire and threw it into a tillage or meadow - field so that the crops could be good that year.
