   1. On St Brigid's Eve it is the custom of the people around here to put water, a ribbon and a piece of straw outside the door. The water is for curing, such as curing a toothache. The ribbon is good for a headache, or and other sickness, and the straw which is made in the shape of a cross is to protect the house from going on fire.
   2. After the Twelfth Day there is supposed to be a cock's step on the days.

   On Hallow'een there is great fun and enjoyment in every house. There is a barm brack with a ring in it bought, and the person who get the ring is the first to be married. Another game is snap apple. This is played in various ways, a long cord hangs from the ceiling and tied to the end of it are two sticks in the shape of a cross. Two apples are stuck on one of them and two pieces of candles on the other end. It is then put spinning
