    Nail Making in Piltown
Nails were made in Piltown long ago. They were made by a man named John Reide. John was a native of Piltown. He lived near where the school is now. He made the nails from wire. He was the only man ever to make nails in Piltown and in the districts around it. John lived near the house where the school is built. He learned this trade in Waterford. No one ever learned the trade from John. John would not instruct anyone in the trade. Several asked him to show them how to make the nails but he refused to show them. He kept it as a secret to himself. John sold the nails at so many for sixpence.
