    people expected and when they died about 1800, old Col. Foster was also dead. The leading Catholic parishioners then reminded the new landlord of his father's promise of the site. He asked four of his tenants in Latnamard (one of them a Protestant Ritchie) to swear that they had head the old Col. offer the site. When this was done, the ground was given and the Chapel was built in 1812 and 1813. The Catholics and other men of good will were delighted to see the new structure arise.
    Many of the Catholic's thought that the generous Col. Foster would become a Catholic and were greviously disappointed when he died about 1825 as a member of the Church of Ireland. They thought it hard that so good a man should in their opinion, he condemned to eternal punishment, and one of them said in rough English "Ov coarse he can't go to heaven, but I hope the Almighty will lave him near the doore below where he can get some fresh air."
