    teller. Tim Ryan, a Dublin man, was a poet. It was he who wrote
    O! Vale of Avoca, Tom Moore says you're sweet.
    But if he were tramping the road without shoes on his feet,
    Or sleeping in Doyles barn without a blanket or sheet,
    He woulden't give a damn where the bright waters meet.
    Doyles barn is in the County Wicklow in the Glen of the Downs. That barn was never without some twenty to forty men of the roads. Tim Ryan used to stay here four nights. During these four nights he used to travel the townsland north, south, east and west. At night time he used compose songs and poems. In those days he was called a poor scholar. In a village in this parish there were two publics. One had a low thatchea house, too low to put a licence sign over the door. So he put it on
