    one of the keepers ordered the poacher nearest him to stand or he would shoot his dog, which had been stolen from a Co Carlow man. The poacher answered "Do and I'll shoot you." The keeper immediately raised his gun and shot the dog. Where upon the poacher carried out his threat and fired blowing the crown of the keepers head off. Rapid firing by both (b) parties followed this occurance in which a poacher was shot in the thigh and expired from loss of blood.
    The remaining poachers made good their escape. Two men were arrested afterwards and charged with the shooting of the game keeper. But were aquited owing to lack of
