- To make a kite you would have to get two sticks. The upright stick should be about 16 inches long, and the cross piece about 12 inches long. You should cross them about two or three inches from the top. Glue on brown paper would keep it fastened and little strips are used along the edges. Fasten with strong twine on the top of the upright stick. When you have the kite finished leave a piece of twine on the end of the kite and tie little pieces of paper on to the twine.
