  1. (continued from previous page)
On the distant prairie where the heather is wild,
Stands a little cottage and it spotless white,
Roses round its porch do twine,
In that peaceful cottage lived a lovely child,
With her blue eyes beaming soft and bright,
Fair as a lily, joyous and free,
Light of the prairie home was she.
But the angels whispered softly in her ear,
Child, thy father calls thee stay not here,
And they gently bore her woven in spotless white
To the blissful home of rest,
Everyone who knew her felt the gentle power,
    Of Rosaleen the prairie child.
