    An orator and scholar.
    As his holy life did tell,
    In Maynooth and Carlow colleges,
    His name was known right well.

    May Mary our Blessed Mother,
    Crown his soul with purity,
    And place him in the choir to praise the holy Trinity.
    VI
    Beside St. Patrick now he stands and asks him one request,
    To pray for his downtrodden isle the land he loved the best.
    And with his loving parishioners he left his blessed remains.
    May solace and joy surround him where the Queen of Glory reigns.
    VII
    Now I'll stop my pen i'll drop these poor unpolished leaves,
    To him you know the wit of man can't give sufficent praise.
    While standing here the falling tear I scarcely can control.
    When your going away I hope you'll pray.
