- There was a great storm about the year 1901. It was on the 9th of September. The corn was in stooks in the fields and it flatened them out like thrauneens. A man named Walsh from Buckstown had just stooked his corn. He and another man stuck their hooks in the corn, the hooks in which the sickels were, were not knocked down but the others were. The gale lasted about two hours. But it did great damage, blew roofs off houses and blewe hay and corn from the fields.
