called the "three Friars". These Friars were hunted from their monastery in Jerpoint Abbey, which the soldiers had knocked down and the ruins are still to be seen. They caught the Friars in this place and killed them. Then they came on to Mullinavat, where they forced someone to give them lodging for the night. During the night, the soldier that had killed the Friars got a pain and died. Before he died he could be heard roaring with the pain for miles around.
