  1. "Ban Shee" was believed to be a woman with long hair continually "keening" and combing her hair around the house of a person about to die.
    The people in this area still believe implicitly in her, also that it is impossible to get near her and also woe betide anyone that crosses her path.
    Families she is believed to follow in this area when any member of the family is going to die

    The people hold her in a kind of supernatural fear.
    The local people would not under any circumstances interfere with Raths, Moats, Cairns etc where the good people are supposed to live in case of getting a "fairy blasst" which caused "bone disease" or "piuc" & often times mental diseases. The people believe untold amounts of gold are hidden where these frequent.
