- Saint John's Parish is one of the largest parishes in the diocese of Ossory. It is divided into three parts John'swell, Dunmore and the parish Church. Saint John's which is called the O'Loughlin Memorial Church because it was built by Count O'Loughlin. Dr. Collier, Bishop of Ossory is Parish priest of the parish and Rev, M. Drea is the present Administrator, who is assisted by two Curates Rev. W. O'Keeffe and Rev. C. Campion.
John'swell and Dunmore are chapels of ease.In the direction of Johnswell it is a radius of about eight miles in extent, it is a very mountainous district. In the direction of Dunmore it is a radius of about four miles in extent. Here the land is very fertile and so the crops raised there are quite good.
