- Once upon a time there was a man named Bowe and he lived in Corstown and there was another man with Bowe and they were going around the country cutting hay. One day they went into a field and there were two acres in the field and one acre was good work for any man in a day. "Bowe said they would cut it in the day because he wanted his wages that night. They were going to start when the other man said he was sick and said he would go home because he thought Bowe would kill him working so hard. Bowe said "stay here and edge the scythes". Then Bowe widened the blades of the scythe so that he could cut a good swarth at a time. There were about three hundred people watching him finishing it at about six O'Clock.
