- (continued from previous page)know what colour the dye was.Note...I distinctly remember Mrs. Heffernan John's wife [about his own age telling me about twenty years ago that the "dye" used was "black" and that the material for its manufacture was got in the neighbouring bog - Moonabrogue.
Liam Mac Óda 1937 - John Holohan (Newtown) Jer Kavanagh Balyring and Jim Corcoran Balief chief thatchers in district. Only one of these Kavanagh has it "handed down".
Oaten straw and wheaten straw used. Wheaten supposed to be the better of the two. Scallops of hazel used.

Tanning of leather not carried on.Ropes used to be made in Garnamanagh. I have failed to find out "how" made or by whom.
