- We have a churn at home. It is not very tall or wide and the sides are rounded like a barrel. We have it about four years.
Butter is made twice a week in our house. It is easily made in winter because the milk is scarce and the churning is not heavy. There is a lot of butter in summer and then churning is very heavy work. It is churned by hand with a churn dash which moves round and round. My mother does the churning and if neighbours come in they lend a hand and have a friendly chat. The churning must be kept going once(continues on next page)- Collector
