    Mumps
    To cure mumps the sick person is brought to a spring well. A straw rope is made and placed around his neck. He is led around the well three times and each time he must bless himself. Sometimes a donkey's winkers are placed around the neck instead of a straw rope. Sometimes the sick person is led three times to the bank of a river or stream.
    Whooping Cough
    A man who possesses a pie-bald horse is said to have the cure of the whooping cough. Some relation of the sick-child goes for the cure. A Mr Robinson of Corbeg has a pie-bald horse. Usually the mother of the sick child goes for the cure. When she meets Mr Robinson she says
    "If you please young man with the pie bald horse
    Give me the cure of the Whooping Cough".
    He then gives something for the sick child to eat such as a cut of bread or biscuits. The child must eat this and remain in bed for three days. The
