homeward journey there was usually a race between the riders with the object of winning bottle of whisky usually presented by the bride's people as a prize to the horseman who reached the wedding-house first and from accounts given and the the length of time afterwards which the particulars of the event, the winner etc. were remembered it appears that these races were very keenly contested.
