    Somewhere between Inagh and Ennistymon a ghost used to appear in a lonely valley and she used to attack anybody who happened to come alone through the valley late at night.

    and after the baptism he spoke to the Parish Priest and told him all that happened the previous night and asked him ought he go to the valley to meet the ghost or ought he stay at home. "Go home now" said the Parish Priest, "and at night fall come back here to me and I will go with you to meet the ghost." The man was delighted with this arrangement and went on his knees to the priest to thank him for what he was doing for him.
    That night the Parish Priest and the man set off for the valley. When they got there the Parish Priest said "Do you see her yet?" "No," said the man, "not a sign of her." They went further into the valley. "Do you see her?" said the priest again. "No" said the man "maybe she won't come at all when you are with me." They went still further into the valley. "Do you see her yet?" said the priest. "Oh here she is" said the man, and they could see her coming toward them like a whirlwind. The priest had a little bottle of holy water in his pocket and he shook it around them so as to form a circle. When the ghost came to the circle she stopped. "Is this how you kept your word" said she to the man. "He did what I told him," said the priest "and if you did what the priests told you, you would not be here now. What did you do that damned you?" said he. "I used to steal
