Chopped onions and sugar was an old cure for a baby with a bad cold.
Taken from Maureen Behan Kildangan Co. Kildare - When people got warts they would be cured if they put a snail on a thorn and leave it there until it withered, and by the time it had withered the wart would be cured.

Kildare. - If a person had the whooping-cough they would be cured if their godfather or godmother bought three yards of red tape and tie in three knots around his neck.
