The machine made boots now take their place.A clog sole mill was in Coolrain some years ago. Tho' the clogs were not made here they were supplied thro' the mill. They are not worn now owing to high duty on them coming in to the country.
Roscrea was the nearest Tannery nine miles away. Sheep skins steeped in Oak bark "to toughen the hide and dye the wool" were done locally these served as floor mats.
