The writer has a good memory of almost fifty years ago. Having been supplied with a new dress for the festival,started in great glee, to show it to old Catherine who sternly asked "where's your Patrick's cross; come here to me" says she and taking a burned stick from the hearth put a very ugly formed cross down the sleeve of my lovely new gown.Christmas was always the time for the holly and mistletoe. It is still used in decorations for the festival.
