- Long ago there were no candles. What they had for a candle was called Snaboge. Then candles came out. They were called Tallow candles. They are made from Grease. They have a wick and bore a hole in the candle and fill in the grease and let it get cooled. My Father told me that he saw Mrs Finn doing it. They peeled the rushes and platted them and melted the grease and dipped them in it, The old people had them at night. They had no lamps.
